DAF has extended and enhanced its airtime beginning Friday, March 1st 2013

From Friday March 1st 2013, DAF, Germany“s only financial and business news channel, will be showing documentaries on subjects from science, history and technology right through to adventure and nature programmes with its slogan „Wissen lohnt sich“ („Knowledge pays off“). The new schedule will be complemented by service magazines bringing viewers news from every area of daily life. As part of its new orientation, DAF has switched to 24/7 broadcasting, which means that the channel will be able to offer its viewers a full schedule of exciting and informative programmes that will continue to be attractive even after the financial markets close.

Two pillars

The channel“s successful daytime format with news and commentaries from the world of finance will continue to be the main element of the programme grid being broadcast from the DAF studios in Kulmbach, Frankfurt and New York. The daytime grid will be extended by an hour to 7°pm. DAF´s primetime block lasts from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and comprises documentaries. This means that DAF will offer both excitement and leisure with entertaining and informative programmes as well as up to the minute stock market news, finance magazines and business talks.

„Viewers who are interested in finance and the stock markets will find entertaining shows on DAF as well. This way we can offer a relaxing evening after a hectic day of trading to our viewers. That is our contribution,“ says Conrad Heberling, DAF“s Chairman of the Executive Board, who is responsible for redesigning the channel. Andreas Scholz, member of the DAF board, adds: „At the same time we are reinforcing our position as the only German-speaking finance and business news channel by integrating the Austrian and Swiss financial markets more strongly.“

Christine Völkel, DAF Head of Programming, says: „This investment and schedule extension guarantees that we will appeal to a wider target group. We will gain new viewers while continuing to provide our established finance-related target group of private and institutional investors with what they are looking for.“

The new content will include both in-house magazine and documentary programmes and external productions. As part of the re-orientation there are also technical changes such as significantly improved picture quality and an upgrade to the current 16:9 format.
