Just 30 days to go until the deadline for sub¬mis¬sions for the „Your Tube Award“ runs out – the international design award for the aluminium tube +++ Winners to be awarded their prizes live at the Interpack 2014 exhibition
Düsseldorf, 30 January 2014. The second „Your Tube Award“ competition is now entering its final phase: 28 February 2014 is the deadline by which all those people with an artistic interest in the topic can submit their creative designs and concepts for the international Aluminium Tube Design Award. Launching this year“s „Your Tube Award“ project on 30 September 2013, the suppliers of aluminium tubes organized in the European Tube Manufacturers Association (etma) invited creative designers to come up with innovative solutions combining the aspects of material, design, and function to form novel design concepts for the aluminium tube.

A special focus on the aluminium tube
The attraction of the „Your Tube Award“ among designers, young professionals, students, and design professors has grown constantly. This is particularly reflected by the resonance of the participants from now over 35 countries, who send in more creative ideas, extraordinary concepts, and fresh impulses for graphic and product designs for the aluminium tube with each day. „Now, one month before the closing date for submissions, we“ve already received a great many innovative and creative projects. In terms of the number of submissions, the resonance among the creative community has more than doubled compared with last year“s award. It“s the university sector in particular that we wish to appeal to, since our aim is to bring young and budding designers into contact with aluminium as an attractive material as early on as possible“, says a delighted Dr. Monika Kopra-Schäfer, etma President and Chairwoman of the Aluminium Tube Committee, regarding the current status of applications for the „Your Tube Award“. Besides fresh talents from renowned institutes, academies, and universities in the design area, there are many young professionals, creative newcomers, and also experienced design experts among the field of competitors for the award.
Award ceremony at the world“s largest packaging exhibition
The winners of the YOUR TUBE AWARD will be presented to a broad audience at the Interpack, the world“s largest trade fair for packaging solutions, in May 2014. At the special exhibition stand of the general association of the aluminium industry, the GDA, the jury will present the best submissions for the YOUR TUBE AWARD in a live stage performance to trade professionals, inviting them to cast their votes to decide the final winners. The first prize of the „Your Tube Award“ is endowed with 5,000 EUR, the second with 2,000 EUR, and the third with 1,000 EUR. The remaining 2,000 EUR of the total prize sum of 10,000 EUR for the best graphic and product designs will be awarded for the special prize „Best Holistic Concept“, for example a tube design for fictional products or for brands that have been created completely from scratch.
The european tube manufacturers association (etma), founded on 25th April 1959, is an association of producers of flexible aluminium, plastic and laminate tubes for packaging purposes. etma represents the interests of 52 companies from 19 European countries.
